ALPHA RHYTH MIX is Dancer/ Choreographer and Master Bodyworker Charleston „Samu Rai“ Marquis, who calls his music “Physical Music” - music for being loose and natural, that is, music destined for the mind via the physical pathways of the body. This idea of music is based on the „onion concept of music“, which is about understanding music by understanding the interrelationship of the different layers within the musical structure in its journey from the periphery to the core of the musical matrix, whereby each layer takes the listener into a deeper sensual experience.

It is Polyphony of syncopated rhythms - an organised multi-layered sound system. Organised to transport you to the deeper layers of the mind where there is neither past nor future - where music is sound, where sound is vibration, where vibrations are waves, and where waves are crystallized energetic information for creating joy within the self in the vast possibility of what is.

It is IWAS - Intracellular Wave Sounds - transporter of cellular intelligence that is perceived, and processed, not via the brain, but via the body (meridian points and muscular cells).
These sounds can affect the perceptibility and quality of the muscle’s cells in the production of movement patterns, without being controlled by the reactive mind.

Let me give you an idea of how my process of making music works:

I get up in the morning and I get this „feeling“. I then go to the keyboard and wait for this feeling to direct me to the beat. Once the flow of the beat starts I begin to hear the music. Each sound I create leads me to other sounds. Until my whole body becomes a musical instrument; the true musician appears. Within half an hour the raw material of the groove – I make grooves not songs - is layed down.

Most of the time there are several other adjoining and concurrent grooves coming in while am „surfing“ with the first groove. The moment the first groove „break the waves“ (loses it dynamics), I leave it there and surf with the second groove.

The next day I critically listen to what I did the previous day, and make the neccessary adjustment to suit the now established concept of the groove I want to hear. It is the only time logic and reason comes into my process of music production.

Before I do what I do, I have no idea what I am doing. Yes, I knowwhat I am feeling, I know the effect this not knowing is having on my being; but I do not know how I am doing what I am doing. But I know what I am hearing... I surf with what I am hearing.

Love Escapades

Love escapades came to me at the time when I broke up with my girlfriend, who took me to the kerb, stretched my patience, made soup out of my pride, and introduced me for the first time to the virus called love, which causes one to fall, and fall, and fall into a bottomless pit. – one of greatest challenges in life – It is one of the most effective remedy to cure the fear of falling. Some people get worse after catching it, and true dance warriors rise to a higher level of being through it.

My music is directed to the mind not to the body. The body doesn`t need music because the body is in itself a musical instrument.

I use the wisdom of the body to teach the mind how to be loose and natural

Dance Warrior

A dance warrior is someone who dances his or her heart out fearlessly.

As a dance teacher and choreographer I always wanted to make my own music for my dance classes and for my dance performances. This is where the inspiration comes for this CD.

Dance warrior, is a kind of music that heats up the feet, soothes the heart and helps the mind to listen.

This CD ( text and music), like all my music, is composed spontaneously, meaning I sit in front of the keyboard and wait for the ideas to come.

Nothing you hear on this CD is preconcieved. If nothing comes I do not force it. I immediately surrender to nothing; I then go to the floor and breathe.

My music is directed to the mind not to the body. The body doesn`t need music because the body in itself is a musical instrument.
